Ever since Zack has been on his mission, Shelly and I have had a special place in our hearts for the missionaries. A few weeks ago, we got new missionaries: Elder Neal and Elder Morrison. Between Shelly visiting her mom or being out of the house when they drop by, they have never met her. Elder Neal started wondering if there really was a Sister Carter.
They finally were going to have a chance to meet her at the church Halloween Party. I got there early to set up my Ghostbusters booth (watch the video here) and brought Shelly's entry for the Chili Cook-off. I got a call from Kristy saying that she was talking to Shelly and that Shelly was getting a migraine. Her migraines effect her vision and speech. They always pass in a little while so I didn't worry about running home. I was surprised to get the following text from her "I meet getting a migraine losing my vision if I come later I might need you to come get me using the speaker". I knew her migraines effected her speech but I didn't know they could effect her texting ability (I found out later that she was having trouble typing so she used the voice-to-text feature. It made sense after all).
Shelly never made it to the party BUT she did win the chili cook-off. Elder Neal came up to and said he still didn't believe I had a wife.
A couple days later we left on vacation. I got a text from the missionaries saying that transfer calls had come and they were staying another six weeks.
Me: "Cool! Maybe you'll finally meet Sister Carter."
Them: "If there is such a person, maybe you could have us for dinner sometime"
Me: "Here's a photo of Sister Carter for proof that she exists"
I'm looking forward to them meeting Shelly.
